Ryan Godfrey | Class of 2028
Student-athlete, entrepreneur, and honors student
I’m a high school student with a 4.0 GPA, taking AP and dual enrollment courses while competing in varsity basketball and track and field. As a freshman, I won a state championship and placed second in both hurdle events. I also run my own landscaping business, combining hard work, discipline, and leadership both on and off the field.
My goal is to honor God, grow daily, and earn a scholarship through athletics and academics.
🏅 Athletics
I compete in both track and field and basketball at the varsity level. On the track, I specialize in hurdles and have become one of the top-ranked hurdlers in South Carolina for my age group. I’m focused on refining my form, getting faster, and continuing to grow in my performance. I’ve already seen major success — including medaling at the state level as a freshman — and I’m just getting started.
In basketball, I play as a guard with a strong physical presence. I’m tall, disciplined, and physical — the kind of player who knows how to use size and strength without forcing the game. I play smart, focus on defense and ball movement, and I’m always looking to improve my skills and court vision. I value being coachable, consistent, and working hard whether the gym is full or empty.
currently hold a 4.0 GPA while taking a challenging course load of AP and dual enrollment classes. I’m committed to academic excellence and personal growth. I consistently stay on top of my studies while balancing athletics and work. My goal is to graduate with honors and earn college scholarships through both my academic and athletic performance.
currently have an internship at Northwestern Mutual, gaining real-world experience in business, finance, and client relations. Outside of that, I work regularly in landscaping, doing hands-on jobs for multiple clients in my area. I don’t own a company, but I’ve built a strong reputation for being reliable, hardworking, and trustworthy — whether I’m mowing lawns, moving heavy equipment, or helping someone with a project.
I also take on side jobs and part-time work whenever I can. I’m always looking for new internship or mentorship opportunities where I can grow in leadership, business, and life skills. Balancing all this with school and sports has taught me how to manage time, stay disciplined, and show up with purpose.
My relationship with Jesus is the foundation of everything I do — from athletics to academics to the way I treat others. I believe success starts with humility, discipline, and integrity. I don’t just want to win races or earn money — I want to live with purpose.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” – Colossians 3:23
